Leaves of September

I love September...the cooler weather...
5 Leaves of September
 the falling leaves...
 ...leaves of fall...
....gusty winds causing leaves to whirl and twirl...
3 Leaves of September
I was thinking about all this as I lay drifting off to sleep last night. Then as often happens, I began developing this idea for an art quilt layout...I thought about these fantastic fabrics I have; I just knew they would be perfect for a "leaves of fall theme..."
So I have been busy working since early morning...and here they are...not yet complete, of course, but they're turning out just as I imagined...
...just as I hoped...
I started cleaning up and noticed I had leftover all these little bitsy scraps and pieces from cutting the leaves...Well, I'm a fabric junkie...a recycle nut and very thrifty, too--I was not about to throw any of the scraps away--you can always make...something else!!

So, I made a swatch of fabric by piecing together all the tiniest scraps...
Then I appliqued a few left over leaves and stitched like mad...
...until I was satisfied with the results...
So, here you have my unplanned project, my stormy day off work of art:

"Scrap Leaves of September"
Time to put my feet up and rest a bit...it is my day off, after all!! Think I'll delve into my new book--SEW WILD by Alisa Burke arrived while I was at work last night, and since I've been madly creating all day long, I haven't opened it up.
So, I'm gonna get comfy on the sofa, pop in the DVD and peruse this long awaited arrival!!
