A New Family Member

What a busy week this has been!!!! Don't know if any of you follow me on FB or not, so this is the latest "household" news...guess what my dear sis gave me for my birthday????

Serendipity, Sera for short, cute as a bug, energetic and not yet house trained...
...isn't she sweet next to that little gate? Well, she poped right over the top and within 2 days renedered it useless!!
She gets all cold and shivery on my tile and hardwood floors, so I made her a few little sweatshirts out of my old sweatshirts =)
My more mature girls are debating about her existence in our home...Bella, my special needs powder puff girl, shown here in the background, is the nay-sayer, and my black lab, Lucy, is willing to negotiate peace between the two of them so she can have a new playmate...
...but NOT at 4:30 a.m....please...Lucy thougtht she would be safe from the pup's boundless energy, up on the sofa. But, Sera navigated that heighth in no time. I told my sister that watching her romp around the room and leap onto and off of the sofa reminded me of Rocky the Flying Squirrel...of course Sera is cuter than ole Rocky...
I've been trying out some new techniques, learned from tutes I discovered as I was blog hopping a few days ago...added my own twist, of course. This is a small glimpse of an UNFINISHED canvas collage that I thought would benefit from the mapping technique. The tute was demonstrated on watercolor paper with different products than what I used on this already in progress canvas collage (I have a watercolor version started too...just sitting over there waiting for some attention from me!!)
...I like the effect so far...will have to work with it some more and see what it wants to become when it grows up!! I'll continue progress updates in future posts...

And did I tell you about the wonderful art teacher I met this week? She has a studio very near my home, where she teaches and creates; she also leads commuinty education classes, and participates in select art shows...
During our first meeting she provided me with a mini lesson about needle felting--which was a blast! Theres something about touching the soft, colorful roving, manipulating the swirls and poking the needle with a sort of voodoo-inspired abandon, that is very freeing! Oooooh, I liked that!!!
I will be showing my progress over the next few weeks. Has anyone done any needle felting before? I've heard tales that "wet felting" is quite satisfying, but hard work? Don't know about that technique, but I'm super happy to be learning this one and have many project idea's-a-brewin!!
Enjoy your Sunday. Be Grateful. Make every day a blessing.

P.S. I had to add this...
...the puppy was up there first...just sayin'...
I view this a MAJOR progress =)
