"me time"

pencil sketch and watercolor in an art journal

I've been working on some projects...

sandwiching a few minutes here and a few minutes there between work, family and "other" obligations, and sometimes a bit of sleep =)

...always seeking out a moment for creativity...

sometimes when I really am squeezing just a few minutes in, not having real art time, but needing a creative fix (know what I mean?) I grab a couple of the containers I keep on my shelf with painting supplies and prepare some background pages in some of my art journals...

I've been making art journals for a while now, using my own rejected art and other papers (mail, maps, magazines and greeting cards, etc.). I also make use of outdated calendar's and children's books, and other such things that are already bound one way or another--some were mine, some were donated by friends and family or I get them from garage sales and second hand stores for almost nothing!

...sometimes I just have to see the colors, touch the pages or fabric--it's almost like sensing peace and wellness in the universe enabling me to approach what lies ahead!

OK, I'm getting ready to go to work, can you tell??!!!

  1. It's just not fair how life can get in the way of art making. I have to deal with this all the time. Nice to see what you can accomplish with a few minutes here and there!
